Clubhouse: Drop-in audio chat is a social media platform, 
taking the world by storm. 

It is a hybrid of podcast radio show and interactive audio experience.

This document is going to change as more information is discovered.

Dropping Gems

Providing knowledge that benefits the room.

Example: Is it ok with the moderator if I drop some gems for the room.


Follow Jail

The inability to follow people for a period of time of a few hours to multiple days for the infraction of following and unfollowing in an unreasonable amount of time.

Example: I’m in follow jail so please don’t hate on me for not following you.


DM

A direct message either on Instagram and Twitter since Clubhouse doesn’t allow you to write direct messages to anyone.

Example: I loved what you were saying DM me on IG.


My question is…

A method moderators utilize to ensure that speakers remain concise when there are multiple people. Typically hear in rooms that are well managed that feature celebrities, influencers, or high net worth individuals.

Example: Next to speak is… in 30 seconds please start with my question is…


Dues or Membership Dues

A task to be completed or monetary cost that is contributed that allows you to speak, moderate or even join a membership club.

Example: If you would like to speak, make sure you pay your dues. Membership dues are either clicking on all the mods and making sure to follow them.


No Dues Room

No cost to attend, speak, or moderate the room.

Example: In this room everyone can speak. No dues necessary just talk from the heart.


Ping

Notify those that follow you to join you in the room they are in right now.

Example: A way to invite mutual followers not currently in the room that you are currently into the conversation.


PTR

Pull to Refresh the screen. A method to share new photos with an audience either as part of a game or to illustrate a point. When you pull your finger down you can see pictures and positions of users change.

Example: Let’s do an ice breaker… PTR your favorite food.


Clapping

Tapping the microphone on and off as a speaker to show appreciation of what is being said.

Example: Look at those blinking microphone clapping for you.


Party Hat

A way to signify new users during the first week of them using the application.

Example: Let’s take a question from a party hat.


Hand Raise

A button that lets the moderator know that you would like to speak.

Example: Look at those blinking microphone clapping for you.


Close the Room

Ending the conversation.

Example: We will give everyone five minutes before we close the room.

One mic

Too many people are talking. A reminder that there are multiple people talking but everyone needs to take their turn.

Example: One mic. One mic. One mic.


Reset the room

A way to refocus the audience of who you are the purpose of the room and if any required dues.

Example: Ok… let’s reset the room… welcome everyone just joining us to…


Flowers

To provide a method of recognizing a major contribution or insight that was made by a speaker.

Example: I learned so much from you, I’m handing you a bouquet of flowers for that insight.


Clear the stage

A process to remove everyone from the stage with the exception of the moderators.

Example: Before we get the next group up on stage let’s clear the stage.
